A free online Algebra text? You bet!
Here is another free resource!
This post by Henri Picciotto has not only good information about why students often find traditional Algebra textbooks to be lacking, but also offers links to a free textbook (which he wrote) that attempts to make Algebra accessible to more by adding in manipulatives. Yeah manipulatives!

Homeschool High School for Free? Sure!
You can homeschool for free by using materials from the public library and on the Internet. You can, of course, spend thousands on a bunch of curriculum too. My family, typically, went the free route.
Check out the following sites for amazingly good quality free courses:

making and staining slides) and microscopic life. Each student will make their own lab notebook of algae, protozoa, and microscopic life forms and learn how to use a biologic key. Students should
be currently studying High School Biology and be prepared to do some reading in between classes. These labs follow every major curriculum requirement for microscopic work. Additional lab fee of $20 for materials will need to be paid to instructor.
Environmental Chemistry Lab
This course consists of 12 hours (over 6 weeks) of high school level chemistry laboratory exercises and related discussions while stressing the chemistry of earth’s environment. Curriculum Free-for-All
I know many of you just came to the Johnsburg Library for the Open House and Used Curriculum Flea Market, but I have another opportunity for you!
The Woodstock Christian School that closed last year still has a lot of material that they want to get into the hands of those who can really use it. While I wish they could have had their materials at the HRC on the 28th, obviously that didn't happen and so we are making other plans. Announcing:
On Wednesday, August 8 from 5:30 - 8:30 there will be a curriculum free-for-all at the Johnsburg Library. A large percentage of the material is Abeka.
This is very improptu, so I will very much appreciate patience and a good sense of humor! Also, if anyone is available to help set-up I will very much appreciate it. Right now I'm not even sure how we are getting the boxes of material
into the meeting room!
